Late Archery
« on: November 28, 2008, 11:33:36 AM »
Anyone have any luck seeing any elk or getting any during the late season that started last week? I'm heading out tomorrow for my first time this year. Going to try to smack one with my black ice!  :IBCOOL:

Seeing and connecting are 2 differant things!!  LOL.. All most on tuesday in the ryderwood unit.  To foggy.  There are elk there but mostly on private property or so thick of timber you can't even draw your bow.  Good luck hope you put somthing together.
The wife said if I go hunting 1 more time, she's going 2 leave me!!  Gosh I'm gonna miss her.

We saw lots of cows and several spikes Tuesday morning, but no legal bulls.

I just got back from my morning hunt.  Seeing tracks but no elk.  I saw 4 deer.  Today I saw some bobcat tracks which was pretty cool.  Other than that just been getting cold and wet.

Cold and wet are two of the three ingredients of a late season elk hunt. The third ingredient is a successful harvest of an elk. Funny, when you do get that third ingredient the first two just don't seem to effect you as much. :IBCOOL:

1bowhunter1 said it best "seeing and connecting are 2 different things". I have had elk within 20-30 yrds almost everytime I have hunted this year, but the brush has been in the way everytime! Walk the darktimber and dogfir very, very slowly and keep the wind in your favor and your ears open, they are very on edge at this point of the season. Now, with that being said, go get em' and good luck!
